Terms of Use
Effective
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of this website (the "Site"). By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Informational and educational purpose only
The Site is an independent, non-partisan educational resource about the October 26, 2026 Ontario municipal mayoral elections. It is provided for general information only. Nothing on the Site is legal, financial, voting or other professional advice, and nothing on the Site is an official election notice. For official information, including candidate lists, voting dates, locations, eligibility and identification requirements, rely only on your municipality's clerk or elections office.
2. No affiliation and no endorsement
The Site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or operated on behalf of any candidate, political party, third-party advertiser, municipality, clerk's office, Elections Ontario or any government. Including a candidate, or summarizing positives, concerns, platforms or criticisms attributed to third parties, is not an endorsement of, or opposition to, any candidate. We do not tell anyone how to vote.
3. No warranty; content provided "as is"
We try to be accurate and fair, and we cite sources for factual claims. Information can change quickly during an election, sources can be wrong, and we may make mistakes. The Site and all content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. Statements attributed to news outlets, candidates, campaigns or other third parties are their statements, not ours. Material labelled "campaign claim" has not been independently verified.
4. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Site's operators and contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary or punitive damages, or any loss of any kind, arising from or related to your access to or use of (or inability to use) the Site or its content, or your reliance on it, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.
5. Third-party links
The Site links to third-party websites, including municipal pages, news outlets and candidate or campaign websites and social media. We do not control, and are not responsible for, their content, accuracy, availability, privacy practices or terms. A link is not an endorsement. You access third-party sites at your own risk.
6. Corrections and right of reply
If you believe something on the Site is inaccurate, incomplete or unfair, including if you are a candidate or campaign wishing to reply, please follow our Corrections process or email contact@otraasi.com. We may correct, clarify, update or remove content at our discretion.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Site, including by interfering with its operation, attempting unauthorized access, or using automated means to overload it. You may share links to the Site and quote short excerpts with attribution. Do not present the Site's content as official election information or as the position of any candidate or government body.
8. Intellectual property
The Site's original text, design and code belong to the Site's operators, except for third-party material, names and trademarks, which belong to their respective owners. The Site uses initials instead of candidate photos and does not use third-party logos.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario for any dispute arising from these Terms or the Site.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted, and the effective date above will be updated. Continuing to use the Site after changes are posted means you accept the revised Terms.
